MidAmerican sending out ‘scratch-and-sniff’ for natural gas leak awareness
MidAmerican Energy customers will be receiving brochures on natural gas safety. But opening up, customers will notice a scratch-and-sniff and sniff strips which smell like natural gas. MidAmerican said they’ve been handing out similar scratch-and-sniff cards to kids for years, but adults could also benefit from this reminder. “There may be adults who haven’t had a natural gas appliance in their house,” said Geoff Greenwood, with MidAmerican Energy. “They may have an electric stove for example, and they just don’t realize it. Also, people may hear a whistling or hissing sound out of an appliance.
